If you missed the Battle For Warped Tour last night… lame. Take a gander at why you should have been there:

Dead Villains kicked off the fourth preliminary battle, jumping into the crowd and inciting chants that I cannot repeat.

Next, came the high energy Awukii from Ontario, CA who shocked the crowd with their intense on stage presence.

The Low Keys made fans dance with their eclectic sound (flute and tribal drums? I think so).

Avi & The Earth People rounded out the night, drawing people from the street into the venue with their unique sound.

Awukii was proclaimed the winner of this fierce battle round.

In case you missed out on the battle last night…

A-Roc and A Hard Place kicked off the first show in a series of preliminary battles for Warped Tour ‘11.

Their high energy songs and tight performance set the stage for Fontana-based rock band, Backseat PIlots.

Next up…the young & unexpected screamo band, Bring Forth The Lies rocked their short set with clever titles like “Watchaacallit”.

However, it was Pomona-natives, Roots Collective who took the night with their relaxed reggae/ska/dub set.

Roots Collective has advanced to the next round, and will battle in the semi-finals on June 9th @ Aladdin Jr. 2 for a spot on Warped Tour.
